Our team went for a mission and partnered with the workers of Arise and Shine Community Church in Hinapolan-Alangalang, Leyte. I got really blessed on how the hand of God moves in the lives of the people there, especially in the life of their pastor, Rey C. Entana. The said church has existed for 4 years now. It was built after super typhoon Yolanda, international code name Haiyan, made landfall in the central Philippine islands region which brought widespread devastation that costs thousands of lives and left thousands of families homeless.
I can't help but share the inspiring story on how Ptr. Rey responded to God's calling by committing his life in reaching out to the people of Leyte. It's surprising to know that he was originally from Calamba-Laguna, miles away where God has placed him right now. The Lord brought him to Leyte for a relief operation after the devastation. When he saw the situation of the people there, he had compassion for them and decided to stay. God instilled in his heart what seemed to be impossible to attain by a stranger like him, to start a ministry in unfamiliar place all by himself. However, God never sends someone out alone, for He already arranged things ahead of time in line with His purpose and plan. Ptr. Rey stayed in barangay hall until such time that one family hosted him, and the rest was history! The obedience and dedication of one man made it possible to build a church that now gives light to Hinapolan community.

Jonalyn Poblete, 1st year college Bachelor of Secondary Education, aiming to use her skills in teaching to administer to the youth.

These students have their own stories and struggles which almost made them want to give up on life and their dreams, but everything has changed when they encounter Jesus Christ. He instilled in their hearts the hope of a better future and brought it to fruition with the help of some generous individuals. You could also help them reach their dreams through giving and praying.
